BLAKE COX
Personal-Educational
Mr.
Cox was born in Slaton, Texas, on January 6, 1960, and was raised in
O'Donnell, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1982
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree; and graduated from Texas Tech University
School of Law in 1986 with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence. While
at Tech Law School, Mr. Cox was a member of the National Mock Trial
team for two years, the ALTA National Mock Trial team, Chairman of the
Board of Barristers, and was elected to the National Order of Barristers.
Professional
Mr. Cox's practice centers primarily on civil litigation involving
the defense of service providers such as real estate agents, appraisers,
surveyors, title agents, home inspectors, pest inspectors, insurance
agents, securities brokers/dealers, and anyone else who gets sued for
providing a service.
He is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Texas State
Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in all state courts,
the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and the
Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is an associate member of the
Texas Land Title Association having served as a member of its Judiciary
and Educational Committees, and an affiliate member of the Greater Fort
Worth Board of Realtors. Mr. Cox has been a frequent lecturer at TLTA
seminars, speaking on topics such as the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices
Act, recent case update, and other issues. He also regularly conducts
seminars for real estate brokers/agents and title insurance companies
and agencies on topics such as the Real Estate Settlement Practices
Act, the Texas Real Estate License Act, the Duty of Disclosure, and
other issues. Mr. Cox has also published several articles in the
Texas Bar Journal and the TLTA Newsletter dealing with issues such as
employment contracts and non-competition agreements, and the changes
in the DTPA.
Service to Community
Mr. Cox has been a member of the Ft. Worth Downtown Rotary,
and has been a past member of the Board of Directors of Casa Mañana,
the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and was Vice-Chairman of the Tarrant
County Heart Walk.
